How Profit Margin Works
Profit is revenue minus cost. Profit margin compares profit with revenue, while markup compares profit with cost. Both percentages are useful, but they answer different pricing questions.

Profit = Revenue - Cost
Margin = Profit / Revenue x 100
Markup = Profit / Cost x 100
